A Week Before A Wedding Fair

How we prepare for these events

This weekend, we are attending our last Wedding Fair for a while, and it's our biggest one yet! We are going to the Lord Haldon Hotel three-day Wedding Show. With every wedding fair, there is a lot of preparation that goes on behind the scenes, and this one is no different. So in this week's blog, we thought we'd give an insight into how we prepare for these events.

This week we have a lot to do to prepare. One of the jobs we've been putting off was repainting our necklace stands. After all the wedding fairs we've done over the last year or so, a lot of the paint had been scratched away from transport and constant packing. So last week, we spent one morning sanding them down and giving them a fresh coat of paint. It's not an essential part of wedding fair prep or something we do often, but now it's done we shouldn't have to worry until this time next year.

We've had our order of business cards arrive ready for the wedding fair. To go alongside them, we have a sheet that gives couples more information about our service. We've been using these letters for a while now and found them really effective. Couples can go away after meeting us and have that letter to remind them of the services we explained to them.

We always take basic price lists with us, listing our silver, gold, and platinum basic band prices. We will be printing out more of them this week so that each couple almost has a little pack of information to take away with them so that everything they need to know is in one place.

Packing the car ready for the fairs has become so easy for us, that we've got it down to a precise routine. We have two storage boxes with us that hold all the display stands; a box with business cards, letters, bags - stationary items really; and our roller banner. Then we have the most important thing - the jewellery! By having everything neatly in boxes, we can easily transport it to the venue from the car making it less likely to forget anything.

An important thing for us to do before a wedding fair is make sure our diary is updated. Every little thing is written in there so we absolutely know when we are available for consultations.

As for jewellery, we always make sure to have different aspects. For example, chains, pendants, bracelets, bangles, earrings and rings. Rings are our main focus for wedding fairs, and we always take our band rings. We have many examples and other variations of rings and wedding bands to give couples a complete idea of our services. We also like to try and include exclusive pieces for each wedding fair, so these will be created this week for Friday. Everything will get a final polish before the fairs this weekend and again at the venue before the show begins.

The week leading up to a wedding fair can be so busy. Not only do we have all the extra preparation, but we have our normal day-to-day goings on at O.M.L Jewels. There's also that extra push to get work done during the week as our weekend is full of fairs.

We are so looking forward to this weekend's wedding fair at The Lord Haldon Hotel!
